The BOYS
I have many men in my life (as this blog attests....some are friends, some are lovers, some are the best of both worlds. Some pop in and out of my life, others stay awhile and some get kicked out of bed well before dawn.
Army (aka. Army Guy, The): A blatently obvious pseudonym, we started dating in January 2008. He is literally Captain America, blonde, blue eyed boy next door type. Sadly, his stint in the DC area will be over in August '08 as will, I suspect, our relationship.
Blue Eyes: The incredibly intelligent baseball player I'm currently crushing on. So named because he has the most INCREDIBLE blue eyes I've ever seen! Le Sigh.
Boyfriend, The: (please see entry: Russian, The)
Canadian, The: An on and off relationship spanning the last four years. We started dating in the Christmas Season ’03, broke up April of ’04, back together in October, ’04, existed in a state of limbo until he moved back to Canada in the summer of ’05 to go to law school, tried the long distance thing from December ’05 until about June ’06 when we tried to stay in touch but could still see other people…then I completely ended it New Year’s Eve ’07 – the saga still continues.
Football Player, The: Boyfriend from April 05 – September 05. Very hot, but total control freak. So named because he’s an NFL kicker.
Fuckhead: The alien who has chosen to inhabit the body of my once perfect boyfriend (please see entry Russian, The) who would rather date his current she-beast (really, she is QUITE unattractive) than yours truly.
Golfer, The: So named because of our first date which was, (again - you guessed it) golfing! We dated for about a month in the spring/summer of 2006 – didn’t work out because he was ready to settle down, and I wasn’t. He remains a fabulous friend, and a wonderful kisser J
Harvard: My First Love. Best friends since the age of 14 – we dated for about 9 months in 1997/98. I broke up with him about a week after going off to college and I discovered the joys of a co-ed educational institution.
Russian, The: (please see entry Fuckhead). My wonderful boyfriend of the past year. We got together January 5, 2007, lived together during the summer of 2008. We're best friend and are completely in love.
The FAM
We're large (in number), usually intoxicated, and love to argue. Think: My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding...only Irish!
Actor, The: My baby brother – the struggling actor (well not so struggling anymore actually). Lives a fabulous lifestyle in NYC.
Baby Sis: Pretty self-explanatory. Younger by 11 – months. Caused a family scandal by getting pregnant without the ever important wedding. She is married now, however, with a lovely baby girl and another on the way.
Princess: Older than Scarlett by 16 months, I love her dearly but chick has NO sense of reality. She thinks working more than 20 hours a week is excessive, that her Anthropology undergrad degree actually has value in the real world and that she is 'making it on her own', even though she is completely supported by her husband. Yes, she lives in her own little dream world - where its nice, cozy and everyone wears Channel.
Sue Ellen: My father’s wife – named after the infamous society maven on the 80’s drama ‘Dallas’. Sue Ellen is obsessed with fashion, society, image and is convinced I’ll never be skinny enough or marry 'well' enough. Her latest obsession is Botox and cellulite disolving injections.
The CREW
We have seen each other through highs, lows, hangovers, good dates, bad dates, nights out on the town, brunches, a handful of illegal activities, and heart break. In the seemingly endless search for our soulmates...they just might be mine.
Barbies, The: So named because they are, well, Barbie-esque. Each one of them is tall, blonde and gorgeous. They take me along for the humor J
Barbie #1: We met through her former roommate about 6 months after I moved to DC. The friendship with her roommate fell apart, but ours thankfully lasted. She has since moved to San Francisco and we’re trying to convince her to move back here. Beautiful inside and out.
Barbie #2: My former next door neighbor who was living with her boyfriend after they moved down here from NYC. 6 months later, she broke up with him and started dating someone else who she moved with to Baltimore. She is currently frustrated as she awaits a ring from this busy law school student who’s no where close to committing.
Barbie #3: Where do I start!? A beautiful 30-something Barbie, who is strong and fiercely independent. She’s a tad afraid of commitment – but the best wing woman and drinking buddy out there.
CB (aka "Crazy Bitch"): My strong willed, New York City, tell-it-like-it-is, "yes, that dress DOES make you look fat", pleadge hazing, cat eye-d, beautiful sorority sister.
HP: My partern in sarcastic, intoxicated, judgemental crime. This gal has been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and ready for more. If you feel the need to raise your literary standards, I suggest you visit her blog tout de suite.
Mr. & Mrs. Dewy Beach: A fabulous couple that met at (you guessed it – Dewy Beach!) They now own a house there, and are a BLAST to hang out with.
Travel Girl: Our friendship is the stuff of blogger legends. She is the best drinking, pool-side laying, apartment hunting, men bashing, make you feel better buddy there is. And her jet setting island hoping travels, make me jealous!
VT: Follow this if you can: She dated Barbie #1’s best guy friend (who I also know), and after they broke up, we decided that we preferred her company to his! Very good friend, hippy and heart.
